What's the difference?
What's the difference between standard dog photography and working dog photography?
So many things!
1. During a standard dog photography session, I use squeakers, treats, funny voices and whistles to get the dog's attention. However, during a working dog photography session, I do not use any forms of distraction. The human partner is completely in charge. My job is to stay as invisible to the dog as possible, while creating amazing images.
2. During a standard dog photography session, I will engage with the dog's humans while I am creating an image. However, during a working dog photography session, I do not engage with the dog's partner. I don't ask questions until the partner is done working with the dog.
3. Because I have obedience training experience, during a standard dog photography session I will offer tips to the humans and sometimes, I even take the dog to work with on my own. During a working dog photography session, the only person to interact with the dog is their partner. Until I am told otherwise, I do not engage with the dog.
The differences may be subtle to those who don't understand the working dog, but to the partner, it makes all the difference.
